Eliza Smith has never been the one to seek a relationship. She’s never dated a guy in her life, never even hugged a man (outside of her father/manager of the hot and popular rock band, FireNine) but when she decides to spend her summer on tour with FireNine, it all changes. Eliza really gets to meet Gage Grendel – her former crush from high school and the lead singer of FireNine – and witness sides to him to which she’ll begin to truly despise.
She’ll ignore him, she’ll dislike his ways, she’ll do anything to try and stay away from him until Gage finally gets her to slip up and give in. She agrees on a casual fling with Gage, but soon they’ll both see how the fling will blur into something they can’t control and when it’s finally time for Eliza to go and accomplish her own dreams, she’ll know there’s more she took from Gage than she ever thought possible.
∞Ena’s 4 Star Rock My World Thoughts∞
Gage Grendel is a badass rocker who lives by his own rules. He is arrogant, cocky, and an all around man whore but he doesn’t apologize for it, he owns it. Although he is all of those things there is something about him that makes my panties melt. However, underneath all that cockiness is a sweet guy who is just lost. Deep down he is looking for love but is scared of getting hurt again. After everyone he has ever cared about is no longer in his life he is scared of feeling any type of love again. From the very beginning just the way he spoke and carried himself made me wanna……
Eliza is a straight laced girl who plays by the rules and doesn’t take risks. She is goal orientated and knows she wants to make something of her future and nothing stands in her way. She will tell you like it is and won’t apologize for her decisions. She is outspoken, kind to a fault, and beautiful even though she doesn’t know it. She is innocent and pure but deep down I felt like she was craving something more even though the more she craved scared her.
So what happens when Eliza and Gage spend the summer together on a tour bus while Gage and his band tour America? Will Eliza take a risk and let loose and have fun with Gage? Will Gage give up his man whore ways and show all his attention to Eliza? Will love grow or will the summer end in heartache?
I had a love/hate relationship with Gage and Eliza because of how they handled certain situations and how they let their fear override their feelings. I can’t begin to say how much I wanted these two to work out because I think both of them had something to offer the other but again they let their past and their fears stand in the way of that happening. Gage and Eliza had me doing this A LOT….
The connection between Gage and Eliza was strong without question. In the beginning they both wanted to fight it. Eliza because she knew that Gage was a broken heart waiting to happen and Gage because he knew he wasn’t any good for Eliza and she deserved better than him. She deserved everything she wanted. Once they decide that they can’t fight the attraction any longer it gets HOT!!!
“Do you want me?” he asked. I nodded, pressing my hand against his chest and squirming to get him as close to me as possible. “You’re sure? You want me?” I nodded eagerly, moaning as his lips barely brushed against mine. “How much?” he asked. “I want all of you, Gage,” I whispered. “All of me?” Before I could nod he shoved himself deep inside of me I sucked in a breath through my teeth as he groaned. “That’s all of me, Eliza. You want me to go slow on you? Would you like me to make love to you?”
So you see this book does and will get hot….Not only did Shanora bring me 2 characters that I loved and at times her characters had me screaming at my kindle telling them what they should do. At times I felt compassion for them before of things that happened in their past that ultimately played a major role in their decision making and at times I felt annoyance and my compassion and understanding left because of stupid decisions they made.
Gage is passionate and will tell you whatever he is thinking without worry if it may hurt your feelings he doesn’t hold back, he lets whatever is in his head run out of his mouth and at times I found it very sexy and had me wanting him very badly.
“Don’t act like you don’t care. You can’t stand here in front of me and act like you fucking don’t care.”
“I don’t care,” I muttered.
“You don’t?” he asked, his tone rhetoric. “If you didn’t care you wouldn’t be mad right now. If you didn’t care that stupid dance with Penelope wouldn’t have gotten you this upset with me. If you didn’t care we wouldn’t be standing in this room, Eliza. I’ll tell you something, though,” he said, laughing humorlessly. “I care. I want you. I’ve wanted you since day one of seeing you. I’ve wanted something from you – whatever it may have been. Whatever you were to give me, I would have taken it and accepted it, even if it were a simple hug or a kiss on the cheek. Anything – something……”
I laughed, got angry, got a little excited down under, and cried. Yep Shanora made me cry in this book yep she made me happy, excited, and then made me cry and then pissed me off! My heart swelled and broke for Gage – he started off a little rough in the beginning and by the end he stole my heart. I understood the choices that were made at the end. It took a lot of strength to do what they did. This story is far from over. Gage and Eliza’s story isn’t always pretty, it’s rough, raw, and dirty but when you look under the layers and get to know the characters their story is beautiful and honest. They did what they had to do in order to live with themselves. I can’t wait for Book 2 because I want to finish this crazy, dysfunctional, beautiful and honest love story.
