Book Review – Wasted Heart (Ruining #3) by Nicole Reed

Yeah, they all hold true.

How can you explain to someone what it’s like not to care? Not about yourself or the person standing next to you. I’ve lost that, the ability to feel and show affection.

Sometimes, when I chase the dragon, it thunders through my head like a drum, reminding me it still beats.

It’s still there.

My agent says I have one more shot. A single, solitary chance to stay in the music biz, but there is one massive problem.

Ena’s 5 Star Review

I have been waiting for Rhye’s book for a long time and Nicole Reed did NOT disappoint me. This is the third book in the Ruining Series but can be read as a standalone. But I do encourage everyone to read Ruining Me and Ruining You because they are beyond words! Ryhe is our bad boy rocker that everyone wanted more of and Nicole has delivered. So sit back, buckle up, and enjoy the ride.

Rhye’s character is such a broken soul. Addiction can single handedly destroy a person’s hopes and dream and leave them empty and alone. Anger is something he is used too, heart ache is something he mastered and living with demons is something that consumes him every day. He thinks very little of himself and it broke my heart. Blaming himself for things that happened is something he can’t let go of and slowly it will eat him alive. He isn’t looking for a better life or someone to love him, he almost welcomes death to finally make all the demons go away. Death to silence the voices in his head and the need for a fix that runs through his veins and Rhye is heading on a downward spiral fast. There is no clue direction of what he is going to do next because Rhye is such an unpredictable character, he left me feeling…

Syn Landry is your every day country music sweetheart. She is young, beautiful, talented and driven. Just like most young girls she gets attached very easily and falls in love just as fast. Having her heartbroken she builds her walls but still longs for a forever kind of love. Country from head to toe she is determined to continue with her success and will stop at nothing to get it. Syn was a strong character – she spoke her mind and didn’t let you pull bullshit over her. She went after what she wanted. She was a little country firecracker and I loved her.

“When I want something. Someone. I fight for them, and I don’t give up until I get what I want. You need to know that. You need to prepare yourself for me. Get right with Jesus and take care of whoever or whatever you need to because you and I are far from over.”

When Rhye is given his last chance to change his ways in his personal life and get back out into the music industry or lost everything – he is thrown in with Syn to create an album – rock meets country (oh boy)…. So what happens when you throw two very different people into a room together and have them work together. One who looks at every woman as a whore and only good to get naked with and one who falls in love so easily and accepts people for who they are? Well let’s take a look!!!

First Nicole will give us A LOT of this….

And then the wheels start turning and she provides us with some of this…

Two people who are looking for something they may not be aware of when the chemistry and pull is so strong it’s only a matter of time before everything comes out in the open and sparks start flying. Different in so many ways yet alike at the same time makes for a perfect match. They will test each other but there is no doubt that they will come together as one and when it does it will be like this….

Addiction is strong and sometimes you fall off the wagon – the goal is to pick yourself and put yourself right back on and never stop fighting. For Rhye it’s a daily struggle to stay clean and fight off the demons that threaten to take over his life – is he strong enough? For Syn loving a complicated man like Rhye is difficult but she is such a strong woman that she is willing to fight for what she wants. Can Rhye continue to fight his addiction and start living the life he deserves? Is Syn truly strong enough to stand by him through the good times and the bad times? Or will everything come crumbling down around them with saying good-bye?
