Zubis. A jinni. A creature of fire. A lover who touched her body and soul like no man ever could. Such forbidden passion might sear the very insides of a human woman, but Bethany O’Brien is not just any woman. She is a reincarnated priestess from the days of Solomon who found Zubis again after three thousand years. He swore to love her forever. Then they were torn apart. Two years later, the only token of their love is the child she carried and Bethany’s broken heart. Still, she is determined to find him. To be a family. Against the forces that now threaten both of their worlds, the only answer is her genie. He knows the same. Reunited in a storm of desire and a web of intrigue, Zubis and Bethany will soon set each other ablaze—and try to protect the rest of humanity.
~Shasta’s 4 Star Thoughts~
I was asked to read and review The Genie Smolders by KellyAnn Zuzulo.
I was a little disappointed when I started reading this book. I know what your thinking, as I said I was disappointed some will automatically assume this is not a good story and that is not the case. It is a great story, but what I was disappointed about was the fact that there was another book before it. When I sit down to read a book, usually I like to start at the beginning of a series. I like to make sure that I know what the characters have been through in the previous book or books, so I know the journeys they have taken. So when I started this book it took me a little time to get into the book, because I had figured out this is not the first, but the second book. Needless to say when I was finally drawn into the character and the story of the book I was hooked. I have to admit, I was not familiar with KellyAnn Zuzulo’s writing, but this book leaves me wanting more. A Paranormal Romance, written in multiple points of view, her writing has me intrigued with her characters and I really would like to see another book with what happens to the 3 main characters: Zubis, Bethany, and Fia.
I do not want to give much away, as it is great story. But I highly recommend that you start with The Genie Ignites and then go into The Genie Smolders. But this book features Jinns (Genies) and of course it gives you an idea into their world and what some are fighting for. Of course with any good book, you need a great romance that will take place. Well for me anyways, because I am a sucker for a great romance and if it also happens to be a paranormal romance, that is even better. And KellyAnn Zuzlo gives you that. Zubis and Bethany face many trials in the quest to be together. Between mystical realms, murder, a great love story and babies with unknown powers it kept me on the edge of my seat.
