Review: Change of Hart by M.E. Carter

My name is Jason Hart.

As the best defensive lineman in the country, I eat, sleep and breathe football. And I like it that way. I’ve only got a few more years before I’ll have to retire, so expending energy on anything other than football seems like a waste of time.

That is, until I have a random meeting with a little boy who just lost his father. We have more in common than you might think and it creates an unlikely bond. As our friendship grows, so do my feelings for his mother.

I know Addison, as a recent widow, isn’t ready to date again. But I want to get to know her better, in spite of all her rejections.

Is it possible that I, a self-proclaimed bachelor, could be having a Change of Hart?

Here is my 4 star review for Change of Hart by M. E. Carter:

Change of Hart came as recommendation through Amazon, so I took the suggestion and gave it a shot. Well I was pleasantly surprised I thoroughly enjoyed the story for a debut novel kudos to the author for a job well done. Also the story is told from the hero’s POV.

Jason Hart is a defensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys who lives and breaths football it’s his life. He doesn’t do relationships he has no time for them, as Jason would say “I’ve only got a few more years before I’ll retire, so expending energy other than football seems like a waste of time.” Jason’s not your typical jock he’s got a big ole heart. So when his good friend Lindsay asks him to come to her school to talk with the students, he agrees and never thought he would be knocked on his ass by a chance meeting with a sweet seven year old boy, named Jaxon.

“I love you, Jason I knew you would come for my birthday. Thank you for coming to see me. I love you so much. You are my hero.”

To say the least that meeting threw Jason for a loop is an understatement, he feels connected to this kid and can’t get his mind off of him. Jason’s been in Jaxon’s shoes he knows what it’s like to lose your dad at a young age, he wants to be in this child’s life to do something for him. What he never expected was to be smitten with Jaxon’s mom Addison.

Addison Bryant is a widowed mom who lost her husband six months ago in a tragic car accident, left alone to take care of her child and return to work to support her son and herself. Addison is a beautiful young woman, she doesn’t see herself that way because her husband was a rotten cheating dirt bag, which left Addison very guarded she believes no man would want someone like her, so when she meets Jason for the first time her walls are in place to protect her heart, why would a man like him ever want someone like her.

Jason’s relationship with Jaxon is truly beautiful he makes that little boy feel special, he does all things a dad would do with their son. What’s not easy for Jason is he actually has to work hard to even get one date with Addison something he’s not used to.

Is Addison really ready to take a leap of faith and trust Jason with her heart and her son? Can she handle his lifestyle and fame or will she walk away?

Will Jason and Addison both have a “Change in Hart” and build a relationship?

“I will never forget the day you dropped into my life. I was perfectly content living my career. But then you showed up with your bright eyes and your big, joyful smile and I was a goner.”
