Kimi Flores brings us a story of starting over and moving on. A beautiful love story about opening your heart again to the possibilities of finding love again. Kimi Flores proves that after hearts are shattered either by choices out of their control or shattered by choices of others that yes hearts can mend and heal and find love again.
In the very beginning when I wasn’t ready for it I found myself….
After I released my tears I continued reading and very shortly after found myself….
By the very end of the book Kimi had my heart so big it felt like it was going to….
In the beginning we meet Miss Abby who from her past has had her heart broken and trust broken from the person who she thought she would ever love. Moving on hasn’t been easy and trusting again has proofed to be a challenge. When she meets the one man, Caleb, who can put her heart back together again and show her that she has a bright future, she has to remember that he is the parent of one of her students and she should back off.
Caleb well Caleb is every ladies dream. He is charming, caring, passionate, handsome, honest, trustworthy, bright, funny, considerate, a great father, and all around swoon worthy. After the loss of his wife Caleb is living his life knowing that he isn’t ready to move on from his sweet Rene and doesn’t think he will ever open his heart up again.
My heart fell in love with Caleb’s 5 year old daughter Madison from the very beginning. She filled my heart with so much joy throughout this book that it was refreshing. She is such a happy go lucky 5 year old and we all know that with children they say what they say and all you can do is smile and laugh at their innocence. She loves Miss Abby and the bond that she and Abby have starts to do something to Caleb’s heart and for the first time since his wife’s death he feels like maybe, just maybe, his heart can be happy again and possibly even love again.
With the help of Abby’s best friend, Leah, after admitting her feelings for Caleb she decides to take the chance at love again and see what happens.
“Uh uh, no way, my friend. You have to change. You look like a school teacher in that outfit and not even a naughty one.”
Not only does Leah and Caleb get help from their family and friends I think the most help they received at finding their way to each other was through a beautiful bright eyed 5 year old, Madison. She is bubbly and just so stinkin cute.
“Miss Abby. Your tutu bounces like mine does for dance, and I could see your tushy.” Madison turned to her friend, “My daddy loves to see tushies under tutus.” If it was possible she believed with all her heart and soul that, at that exact moment, both she and Caleb could crawl under a rock, never to be seen again. She couldn’t look at him until she heard him laugh.
Not knowing where their relationship was going and if it would ultimately end in till death do us part they wanted to keep things simple especially in front of Madison because like we all know kids get attached very easily and Caleb didn’t want Madison suffering any unnecessary heartache if things didn’t work out. However, the passion and attraction between Caleb and Abby sometimes proved to run too deep and too hot that sometimes they just couldn’t control themselves.
“Daddy, why are you on top of Miss Abby kissing her?” CRAP!
It All Started With A Lima Bean was a refreshing contemporary romance that is truly a beautiful love story. I think Kimi hit the nail on the head especially with regards to Madison and how the character spoke in the book – it truly sounded like you were listening to a 5 year old and it warmed my heart. If you enjoy true love stories and romance than you will enjoy It All Started With A Lima Bean. I can’t wait for book two and read more of Leah’s story in hopes of her getting her happily ever after. Great job Kimi!
