Fear of Falling by S.L. Jennings

Fear of Falling Cover

~~Natasha’s 5+++++ Star Thoughts~~

I cannot begin to express how in love I am with this book. SL Jennings has done it again, and made me fall hopelessly for these characters. It has been some time since I found a book that I just could not put down. This book takes you through a whole range of emotions: Happiness, sadness, anger, fear, loneliness, frustration and compassion.

Kami is this tough as nails girl who refuses to feel anything for anyone due to her dark past. She fights love and everything that it stands for. I am so in awe of her strength and determination. She is smart and beautiful and caring. She doesn’t believe that she deserves or has ever known real love, and is scared of what will happen if she does.

“We fear what we don’t understand, and I didn’t understand the feelings I had for Blaine.”

Blaine is this insightful, sexy as sin, tattooed southern gentlemen who has his own demons. However, he refuses to let them get in the way of what he wants …. Kami! No matter how hard she fights him! He is so seductive and says just the thing to make you swoon and fall more and more in love with him. He always seems to put the ones he loves first and goes out of his way to help those that need it. He knows from the second he sees Kami that there is something different about her and is instantly attracted to her.

“I know you said you don’t feel anything,” he whispered. “But can you honestly say that you don’t feel this? That this heat, this attraction, is all in my head? Don’t think about it; just answer. Tell me what your heart wants to say and not what your head keeps trying to make you believe.”

The histories of these characters are so real and raw, and hard to believe that they came out of it at all never mind in one peace. It makes me appreciate Kami and Blaine as well as the story that is told so so much more. Through the book they seem to heal each other and take away each others pain. Its such a beautiful love story. Blaine is such a wonderful, gentle protector of her soul, and would do anything to make life better for her.

“Don’t worry,” he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. “I’ve got you. I’ll always catch you when you fall.”

The other characters in this book are hilarious and awesome and are such a great support system. Angel and Dominic know every deep dark secret Kami has and love her through it all. They are such a great trio(each with their own terrible pasts), their banter and actions are so positive for each other. Everyone needs friends like this in their lives. You also get to meet CJ and while he’s totally crude, its in a hilarious way. He always has something cheeky to say and makes those parts of the story so much more enjoyable and light hearted.

The writing is exceptional and had me feeling like I was right there in the moment! It had me ugly crying and screaming at the sad, gut wrenching parts and laughing at all the sweet endearing parts! Blaine and Kami are so perfect for each other, and am so honored that I was able to read their story and be a part of their lives. This book has such a powerful message and its one that you can go back and read over and over. It makes you realize how strong a person really is and what they can conquer when they have someone that loves them.

My favorite quote in the whole book was from Blaine. It gives me butterflies and makes me question what woman WOULDN’T want this said to them. To be someones everything ….

“I needed to touch her. In that moment, it had become as necessary to me as air.”

Blaine is definitely BBF worthy and Kami is such a great role model for young women. This has quickly become one of my favorite books of all time and I cannot say enough about what a great job SL Jennings did! LOVE LOVE LOVE this book.

Congrats Syreeta on such a fantastic job!!! This book is worth so much more than the 5 stars that I am able to give it. While I cannot begin to imagine how hard this was for you to write, I thank you for sharing this emotional journey with us readers =)
