Chica Bella by Carly Fall

Chica Bella

Blurb:

Landon “Blackhawk” Walker is ready to get out of the Navy SEALs. He has seen and done enough, and can’t wait to get to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where three tasks await him: get back into civilian mode, take a boat out to the El Arco Rocks, and win back the heart of the woman he lost because of his career.

Maya Gonzalez has tired of the heartbreak that comes with Landon’s deployments year after year. When he walks back into her life, she cannot deny her heart, despite her reservations.

As they lose themselves in each other and the beauty of Cabo, their passion is rekindled once again, but Maya knows that one phone call means deployment for Landon, putting an end to their reunion, and possibly their relationship.

~~Rosie’s 3 3/4 Star Thoughts~~

Does a military man make you swoon?  What if his name is Landon Walker and he is a tall, muscular, and gorgeous blue eyed Navy Seal?  I say ABSOLUTELY!  Landon has been in the military for a long time.  He has seen enough death and destruction during his tours.  His is ready to give up his life as a Seal.  He is physically drained and just wants to get out before its too late.  Landon has no family besides his military brothers.  Does he have one mission left in him?  His CO really needs him, but will this mission have a bullet with Landons name on it?
Whenever Landon goes on leave he has no family to go home too.  He spends the few weeks he has every year in Cabo.  The beautiful ocean air and tropical paradise is where he finds his peace and refuge.  He also finds his one reason for making sure he lives to see another day when he is on his missions. His Chica Bella!  Maya Gonzales is a thing of beauty to him.  He finds love and comfort in her arms whenever he he goes to Cabo.  The time they spend together makes life worth living.
“Maya it’s always you. Its thinking of you that made me want to stay alive. It’s the thought of your smile, your face, your body pressed up against mine, that kept me warm at night, the sound of your laughter that made me smile when I felt like I couldnt smile again.”
Maya loves Landon so much and wishes he could stay with her always.  When they are together Landon is amazing to her.  He treats her like a princess and cherishes every moment they have together.  The phone can ring at any time and whisk Landon away from her.  The last time he left she mourned for 7 months.  She had no way of even knowing if he was still alive.  He can have absolutely no communication with the outside world when he is on a mission.  This time when Landon shows up, Maya tries her hardest to put up a brick wall to protect her heart again.  She can see that he is worn and his soul is tired.  Her heart breaks for him.  Her family really loves Landon, but they always have to pick up the shattered pieces of Maya when he leaves.  Can she take him leaving her one more time?
“His heart thudded beneath her hand and a slight sheen of sweat covered his body.  As she let her hands roam on his chest , his flat stomach, up the muscles of his strong smooth back, she knew her idea of keeping a little bit of her heart out of the picture was useless.  Landon owned her heart, as well as her soul, and there was nothing she could do about it.”
Landon and Maya are savoring each other spending as much time as they can together.  Landons phone begins to ring.  There is only one reason his phone ever rings.  Which mission will Landon have ahead of him?  Will Maya take him back if he leaves her again?
Rosies thoughts
This was a great little book to read in an afternoon.  Landon is amazingly sweet, hot, and perfect!  Oh and he’s hot!  Did I say that already?  You will definitely wish you had your own Navy seal after reading this.  If you are looking for something sweet and romantic this would be a great book for you.  For such a short book you do get attached to the characters. The writer  creates a beautiful picture of the surroundings so you can almost feel the cool ocean breeze while reading. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend looking for this type of read!
