~~Laura’s 3 3/4 Star Thoughts~~

This is the story of Layla Crawford.  She has finally moved out of her parents controlling grasps and is striking out on her own.  She has registered for classes at the local University and found herself a job.  Now she just needs to find arrangements.  She ends up renting a room in a house, with a couple of guys.

Kade and James are brothers and 2 of her roommates. The third roommate is also the home owner.  He is rarely around, until a chance encounter brings them face to face one night at a local club. When morning comes Layla is prepared to do the “walk of shame”, only to realize that she is in the same house she rents a room in.

Enter Chase Jackson, resident bad boy, womanizer and sexy as sin Alpha Male. From the moment Chase set eyes on Layla, several years before, he knows he has to have her.  And if there is a girl out there who can tame his bad boy ways, she is the girl for the job.

Talk about a roller coaster ride of emotions.  Layla and Chases story is full of romance, laughs and two protective type brothers Kade and James).  I would have liked to know more about Layla and Chase’s pasts.  They have both been hurt at some point and you never really get to know their full stories.  Their relationship is in constant up roar with the appearance of Chase’s ex-girlfriend who continues to try and win him back. Thus pushing Layla further away from him.  If he wants to keep Layla in his life he is going to have to put an end to his bad boy ways and man up and prove to her that he can be the one.

I loved Chase!  Such a sexy Alpha!  At times I did find him to be a little overbearing/controlling.  He seemed to want total control over Layla’s life and if he couldn’t be there to take care of her he had his brothers keep an eye on her.  Layla didn’t want anyone taking care of her.  She wanted to make it on her own.  She was her own woman and was not afraid to let it be known.  Kade and James lend great support as her protectors.

I felt the last third of the book was rushed.  Like they had run out of time to tell the rest of the story.  I only had one real pet peeve with this book and that was the lack of editing.  I get that this is their first book, but the spelling, grammatical, wording and sentence structure errors where throughout the book.  I ended up highlighting and making notes all over the place.

Overall, I really did enjoy the story line and look forward to reading Kade and Nikki’s story.
