I give Risk and Reward 5 stars for touching on a couple of very sensitive life issues and showing that sometimes taking a risk will bring you great rewards. I went through so many emotions while this story unfolded, sad, content, scared, frustrated, just to name a few. Having been where Charlotte was in her marriage, I definitely was sympathetic to her plight.
Rachael Duncan is a new author to me and I was very impressed with this novel. I’ll definitely be reading more from her. I loved the strength of her characters and how the story unfolded. The story flowed easily, and there was never a dull moment.
Charlotte and Nate Townsend have been together seven years, married for five, and she is miserable. His job requires a lot of travel, and a lot of hours even when he’s home. When they split and go their separate ways, she begins to wonders if she’s done the right thing. Is the grass greener on the other side?
Charlotte isn’t happy. Nate is always working and even when he’s home he’s preoccupied. She wants out. She gets a job and an apartment and begins her new life as a single person. Is this really what she wants or has she made a mistake?
Nate Townsend always wanted the assistant athletic director position. Although he loves his job he didn’t bargain for the amount of time it would consume. When Charlotte announces she wants a divorce, he’s heartbroken. Will she give him a second chance?
Risk and Reward is a contemporary romance novel that shows how a marriage needs to be nurtured or one of the two parties will definitely want out. There were twist and turns that I definitely did not see coming, but I would say the bigger the risk the better the reward.
I flew through this book and just could not put it down.
