Book Review: Taken (Holton Woods #3) by HelenKay Dimon

Wade Royer and Elijah Sterling are on shaky ground. While initially reluctant Eli is finally ready to take things to the next level, Wade is hesitant. He senses trouble coming and he’s right. Still, they know their fiercely undeniable connection—both in and out of the bedroom—is worth saving.

Then a man from Eli’s past reappears and the CIA comes calling—and they both want Eli back. With their relationship in jeopardy of falling apart and Eli in danger of a different kind, both men will have to decide what they really want—and then take it…

I feel in love with Wade and Eli’s on again off again, messed up, get it together romance in Mercy and got another small glimpse of it in Only. It wasn’t enough for me. I wanted more of this couple. I wanted to see them fight and make up. I wanted to hear their dirty talk to each other and their sweet caresses. HelenKay did just that. She made me one happy girl.

Wade and Eli’s struggles are still ever present but they have decided that no matter what they would give into the attraction and find a way to make it work. There were most defiantly obstacles that these 2 had to hurdle their way through and it wasn’t always easy. Sometimes love is never enough and both Wade and Eli will have to work harder than they have ever had to work before if they want to make “them” work.

Hot and steamy, HelenKay delivers like always. If you love M/M romance you will love this couple. They are complicated and intriguing. They will not only frustrate you but also make your heart swoon. My insta love was with Wade. His hard exterior and masculine good looks. He is a total bad ass but deep down he wants love. He wants that always and forever type of love and for him that is pointed towards Eli. Eli who has had relations with both men and woman in his past has never had an easy time putting a label as “gay” out there when it comes to him. He doesn’t get attached, he always has his eye on the job and emotions don’t play into the mix.   Wade wants more, everything even and Eli still struggles with things from his past. He wants Wade, no doubt but there is always that fear that what they have or could have will be Taken away from them.

“ I love every part.” And Wade meant that to his soul. Even the grumpy, difficult parts. “Which I could tell you about but I’d rather show you.”

Eli’s hand slipped past the elastic of Wade’s underwear. “With your mouth.”

“Hands, mouth, body.” Wade forced the words out over the pleasure crashing through him. “It all belongs to you.”

“Because I’m taken?”

Amusement hit Wade and he didn’t fight off the laugh. “You’re about to be.”

Wade is scared that Eli will wake up one morning and realize that he misses his old life and wants to get back to it leaving Wade broken hearted and lost. Eli is scared of his feelings for Wade and what that means. He is afraid that every decision he does or doesn’t make will have Wade pushing him away again and that is one thing he can’t have. This couple is so complex. Their journey together was intriguing and frustrating all at the same time. The sex was off the charts. One thing I was really hoping to get that sadly I did not was that Eli would actually let Wade take him. I was hoping but looking back that is not Eli.

“We can wait a week, a month, a year, and what I feel for you, this kick-me-in-the-teeth, forever kind of need will not budge.”

“Eli, I-“

He took the final step to swallow up the space between them. “I fucking love you. All of you, until I’m knocked over and dragged under by it.”
