Book Review: Her Soldier by HJ Bellus

her soldier

Synopsis

Sergeant Jeremiah Abbner died in the line of duty serving his country. Or at least that’s what the newspapers said…

The US Government handed him a new identity, and strict orders not to make contact with anyone from his past. As far as society was concerned Sergeant Jeremiah Abbner was dead, and buried six feet under.

Not having contact with his ex-wife would be easy. She was a manipulator and a cheater.

Not seeing his daughter on the other hand would devastate him…

Beau Morgan, aka Jeremiah, settles down in a town far away from everything he’s ever known. Coping with the trauma he’s experienced and discovering a new life Beau finds himself the most aggressive he’s ever been. His blood simmers with rage while his fists are thirsty to let it all out .

In the middle of his own living hell he never expected to run into an old familiar face. And to top it off, one who recognized him as Jeremiah.

He’s vowed never to love again, but as circumstances land him in the arms of a woman, Jenni Lee, this time he may not have a choice, as she rarely takes no for an answer.

Can Beau Morgan control his temper long enough to settle into his new life? Or will resentment taint him forever?

4.5 star review

Sergeant Jeremiah was said to have died in the line of duty, but what really happened was the US Government handed him a new identity; he was to be Beau Morgan now and gave him very strict orders not to make contact with anyone from his past. Which meant he couldn’t have any contact with his daughter, that was the hardest part of this new identity. He couldn’t see or talk to his little girl. He moves far away in the hopes that being far will make this easier. It isn’t any easier, he angry and becomes aggressive due to the situation, he find himself in.

He comes across Jenni, who is in need of his help and he can’t say no. This gesture of kindness puts Jenni and Beau together where sparks light up between to two.  Jenni knows there is more to Beau but he won’t let her in.  Do these two have a future together? Or will Beau push her away? Can Beau accept his new identity and move forward? Or will his resentment and anger win out on a chance at love?

I really liked this story. I felt the characters pain and wanted them to move forward and find love within each other. I love HJ Bellus books and thought this was a great one. I personally thought the ending was rushed. But otherwise it was a great book to read. Beau is Her Solider, but he has to come to that conclusion too. He fights it and doesn’t want to let her in and it kills me to feel all the pain these two go through. It is a powerful story and I just love Beau and Jenni together. But there is one part I am bawling my eyes out and hating Beau for his stupidity. You’ll have to read it to see if he lets Jenni in and if they will get their HEA. There will be a 4th book in this series that is suppose to wrap all these character’s stories up and that is why this one didn’t feel as finished as I would of liked. But knowing there is more to come makes me happy! Go read about Jenni’s Solider.
