In the aftermath of destruction, hearts were destroyed, strengths were stripped, and vulnerabilities were exposed.
A community was ripped apart after a tragic accident, and the loss hit one family particularly hard as it claimed the lives of three, leaving only one surviving member to pick up the pieces and move forward.
Baylor’s life was wiped clean in the blink of an eye. No family, no home, no name. That is, until she met Brandt. He took a chance, giving her hope and a reason to start over. A reason to rebuild a life full of forgotten memories. A reason to trust. A reason to love.
Finding love in all the right places should be easy, but when truths are revealed, it’s anything but. Brandt will help her rediscover the true meaning of unconditional eternal love that will prove painful, life altering, and redeeming.
Together, they will try to face the future and will use each other’s strengths to learn how to live again. Can they rewrite history, or in the end, will the tragedies of their pasts be too much?
I have sat down a few times and tried write this review, and I couldn’t express into words exactly how I felt. The more I thought about the story the more I felt like I needed to re-read the story, so I did just that. Let me tell you I cried, well more like ugly cried. Dani Hart has brought another emotional, but yet wonderful story in Forgotten Treasures. This book had me thinking of all the what-ifs in life. If what happened to the main characters happened to me and how I would deal with it. To me, Dani just doesn’t give you one of those cookie cutter books. The ones that are boy meets girl, they fall in love, and live happily ever after. No, she gives you these emotional roller coasters that have you putting yourself into the characters shoes and making you ask what if this happened to me. What would I do or how would I feel? And to me these are the best kinds of books. The ones that grab you from the beginning and do not let you go!
After waking up alone in a hospital room and not knowing who she is or what happened to her, Freckles (Baylor) is forced to try to and find her memories that are lost to her. She is introduced to Grady who brings a little joy into her unknown life while she is trying to get back on her feet after being in a coma. But not only is she faced with not knowing who she is, but when she is discharged she has nowhere to go until her new friend Grady steps in and helps her, by allowing her to stay at his home and recuperate. Since Grady is not always there he tells her that his brother Brandt will also be around to help her if she needs anything.
Now, with having no memory she has to try and carve a life out for herself until she regains her past or there is of course that chance that she might never get that past back. One thing Freckles (Baylor) knows for sure is that she feels a strong connection with Brandt and Grady, but she is determined to find out what happened to her. She wants to stay determined to find out what her life was like and if there is someone that is missing her and wants her back. But is fate on her side in regaining those memories or will she have to make new ones.
The one thing I will say is that this is one book will keep you glued to your reading devices.
