Book one in the Thomas Elkin series.
Even the strongest of buildings start out as plans on paper, and every architect knows that sometimes plans need to change. Sometimes, these lessons are learned on the job.
A successful New York architect, Thomas Elkin almost has it all. Coming out as gay and ending his marriage before his fortieth birthday, he needed to start living his life. Now, four years later, with his relationship with his son back on track, and after a few short-lived romances, this esteemed traditional draftsman thought he knew everything about architecture, about life.
Cooper Jones, twenty-two years old, is about to take the architect world by storm. Talented, professional, driven, and completely infuriating, Cooper is the definition of Generation Y.
Starting an internship working with Thomas, Cooper is about to knock Tom’s world off its axis. Tom can teach Cooper about the industry, but Cooper is about to teach Tom a few things about life.
N.R Walker brings us a sexy and steamy novella about a man who after spending most of his 44 years living a lie decides to finally be who he is. After divorcing his wife and finally going after what he wants he finds himself being drawn to Cooper who is not only half his age, but also an intern at his architectural firm and good friends with his son. Tom finds himself in an awkward situation where he finds himself having to fight his feelings for someone who he can’t have.
Cooper is a young, bright and determined 22 year old intern looking to make his way into the architectural business world and goes after everything he wants. Coopers character is up front and very honest. He says what he is thinking without thinking twice about it. Something about Tom pulls him in and makes him question the passionate desire that flows between them. Knowing Tom his the father of a good friend and his boss he knows he is off limits but feelings are so strong that he is willing to throw caution to the wind and go after what he wants.
N.R. Walker did a great job with this novella – I got to know Thomas and felt passionate towards him for finally living a life that isn’t a lie. He is professional and successful and I wanted so badly for him to find love to make him completely happy. Although he is 44 years old he is sexy and determined and very compassionate.
Cooper is a young and determined and doesn’t act like your typical 22 years old. He is vibrant and outspoken and is an easy character to fall in love with. He is snarky and such a smart ass but you love him for it. (It’s a Gen Y thing)!
You can feel the chemistry and desire between them. I couldn’t wait until Tom and Cooper finally gave into their desires and went after what they want to give us a little…..
When Cooper and Tom finally took the plunge and stopped denying their attraction for each other I was so happy for them and so excited.
N.R. Walker gave us so many sweet moments with the 2 as they got to know each other and some steamy moments when they finally couldn’t keep their hands off each other. So although the kissing and little touching moments were nice the moments like this were even better….
Nothing lasts forever after the discovery of their relationship Tom starts questioning what he is doing with someone half his age. He knows that after the internship if Cooper starts working for his company their relationship cannot continue. He questions their age difference and comes to a decision about what he needs to do. Making a decision without talking with Cooper first blow up in his face leaving him feeling lost.
What decision does Tom make that has Cooper silencing himself out of Tom life? Can Tom make Cooper understand the reason behind his decision or will Cooper feel betrayed and walk out of Tom’s life before they even have a chance to build a life together?
I loved this novella – and I can’t wait to read more from N.R. Walker! Great storyline, great characters and amazing steamy scenes and left my satisfied when I finished.
