Book Review – Beautiful Addictions by Season Vining

BASynopsisJosie Banks is a girl without a past.  After being found unconscious with no memory, she was shuffled in and out of foster homes where she suffered years of abuse. An experience that left her broken, damaged, and clinging to drugs and meaningless hook-ups to numb her pain.

When Josie disappeared years ago, she took a piece of Tristan with her.  She’s the girl he thought he lost forever—the one he’s never been able to forget.  Now a twist of fate has brought them back together, and he never wants to let her out of his inked arms again.  But Tristan is haunted by a dark past of his own.  On the run from ruthless criminals that shattered Josie’s world years ago, reentering her life puts them both in danger.

As Josie and Tristan’s lives become tangled once again, they find themselves unwilling and unable to escape the relentless pull that draws them together.  But will the past leave their love in ruins—or bind them together for a lifetime?

5 Star Review

I was given an ARC from Netgalley to review Beautiful Addictions for Swoon Worthy Books and can I just say that this book completely sucked me in. This is not your typical romance. There is no boy meets girl, they fall madly in love endure a little heart break and then get right back together and live happily ever after. There are so many twists and turns to this story that the author keeps you guessing what is going to happen throughout the book. The one thing I love about this book is that yes you have two main characters, but this author gives you multiple character views, which I thought was great. You are getting everyone’s opinion instead of just the main characters.

There are things in our past that we would all like to forget about, but to have no memory at all of your past is not something that you would really want. Josie Banks has no memory at all of her past. The only memories that she has is from the day she woke up in the hospital as a young girl up until now. She goes through her life using sketching, sex and drugs to numb herself so she does not have to feel. Until the night that she is sketching and below her she sees a man that is overcome with his own pain. Little does Josie know that she has met this man before. And he could be the key to help her face her demons.

Tristan sees Josie in the bar that he works one night and has this feeling that he knows her, but at first he can’t remember how. Then after spending time with her he realizes that she is his first love who he lost not once but twice. First, when she moved away and second when he was told that she had died. Now he gets a second chance to show her how much he has always loved her and that he has never forgotten her although she might have forgotten him due to her amnesia. But the only thing is Tristan has things in his past that are now catching up to him and he has to keep Josie safe in the process even while breaking down her walls and getting her to open up to him once again.

I absolutely love this book because it is not you standard romance. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for her next book.
