Book Review – Thief by Tarryn Fisher

Note to Self

Love is patient; love is kind.
Love doesn’t boast or brag.
There’s no arrogance in love;
it’s never rude, crude, or indecent-it’s not self absorbed.
Love isn’t easily upset.
Love doesn’t tally wrongs.
Love trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what.
Love will never become obsolete.
I’ll fight for her.

Caleb Drake never got over his first love. Not when he got married. Not when she got married. When life suddenly comes full circle Caleb must decide how how far he is willing to go to get the aloof and alluring Olivia Kaspen back. But for every action in life there is a consequence, and soon Caleb finds out that sometimes love comes at an unbearably high price.

Amanda’s 4 1/2 Star Review

WOW!  I am SO happy with the conclusion of this series!  Ahhhh!  I loved how it all finally ends!  I was so nervous and really didn’t know how it would all come together!  But Tarryn Fisher gives us an AMAZING finish to a must read series!
“I don’t love anything more than I love you.”
Caleb Drake has always been in love with Olivia!  She was his first love. . .his soul mate!  He has never been able to get over her, not when he got married. . . or even when she got married.  Now that things have changed, Caleb feels now is the time to get Olivia back.  Just how far he is willing to go is the question!
“. . .I’m your soul mate.  I’m the only one who knows how to heal you.”
Caleb’s love for Olivia is just. . . (swoon) so beautiful!  But when he is constantly making the wrong decision even when trying to do the right thing… I want to smack him.  Thankfully, Olivia is more grown up and still in love with him.  The back and forth always keeps your attention.  You never know who will be the obstacle for their love this time.  They must finally figure out is LOVE truly enough?  Can they really have a happily ever after?  Or will someone else steal it from them?
“You’re right.  I am a fool.  But, as you can see, I’m a fool who never quite let go.”
YOU MUST READ THIS SERIES!  It will annoy you, pull at your emotions, piss you off, make you nervous and then bring you full circle back to a beautiful love story!!!  Thief starts 2 years after Dirty Red, but continues as the first 2 have with the story told from the past and present in mainly Caleb’s POV.  I am afraid to say too much, but you will constantly be wondering how will it all end!  And I am SO happy with how it all turns out in the end!  Go check it out!  Great Series!!!
~~ Laura’s 5 Amazing Star Review~~
Where, oh where to begin with this one.  Tarryn Fisher does not disappoint in the conclusion to the “Love Me With Lies” Series.  Thief finds us with Caleb’s POV, as he takes us through the past and present that make up his life. From the first time he set eyes on Olivia to the resting place of their relationship.  Olivia is the love of his life.  It doesn’t matter what has driven them apart over the last ten years, they are always finding themselves back together.  Like a light, guiding a wayward ship to shore, there is some driving force, fate, if that is what you want to call it, that brings them back to each other.
“Olivia. I’ve lost her three times. The first was to impatience. The second was to a lie so dense we couldn’t work our way through it, and the third time – this time – I’ve lost her to Noah.”
I love Caleb.  How could you not. His love for Olivia is all encompassing.  No matter what has happened in his life, a failed marriage, a child, losing his parents.  He has never wavered in his love for Olivia.  She is the one constant in his life.
“She’s mine. She always has been, she always will be.”
“If I can’t have Olivia Kaspen, then I’ll be alone. She is a disease I have. After ten years, I am finally realizing that I can’t cure it with other women.”
“I’ll do whatever I have to do to protect you. I’ll lie, cheat, and steal to make you okay. I’ll share your suffering, and I’ll carry you when you’re weighed down. I’ll never leave you, not even when you ask me to. Do you believe me?”
Caleb loves Olivia more than life itself.  He wants to be her protector, nurturer, lover.  He sees the chance to bring her back into his life and he takes it.  Their love affair is filled with so much hurt, lies, deceit, sadness, anger and above all love.  Caleb has so much devotion for this one woman, that not even marriages that they both have and had, can stop his want, no wait, his NEED for Olivia.
“Let me carry you out. I’ll never let you touch the ground. I was made to carry you, Olivia. You’re fucking heavy with all of your guilt and self-loathing. But I can do it. Because I love you.”
I loved seeing how Olivia drops everything to take care of Caleb.  It shows that she isn’t so cold hearted.  That she really and truly cares for Caleb, even after all these years.  She is the one to console him when his world ends up in chaos.  She grounds him, supports him and loves him for the man he is, the man he has been and the man he strives to be.
This book is such a roller coaster ride of emotions.  Tarry Fisher is one of the best Indie Authors out there.  Her writing is amazing.  She knows how to draw you in and captivate your mind.  I didn’t want to put this book down.  She has a way with keeping you wanting more.  You feel all the emotions, that the characters are experiencing. You love them and hate them all at the same time.  I hated Leah!  And parts of me hated Olivia.  But Caleb, he is definitely one of my top ten BBF.  How could he not be.  When you love someone as fiercely as he does Olivia.  That not even years of loveless marriages, can drive them apart.  His devotion to every aspect of her life, no matter how hurtful or flawed she may be, he keeps coming back for more.  He knows that she is truly meant to be his.
“It took me a long time to figure out that’s what you were saying…But ten years later, here I am. Fighting. I’d like to think I’ve learned from my mistakes. I’d also like to think we’ve finally made it to the point where we are ready for each other…Maybe this is finally our time. Maybe.”
“I want your babies, and your anger, and your cold blue eyes. I want to go on anniversary dinners with you, I want to wrap Christmas presents with you. I want to fight with you about stupid things and then hold you down in my bed and make it up to you. I want to have more cake batter fights and camping trips. I want your future, Olivia. Please come back to me.”
This is a must read series.  If you have not gotten to it yet, do so now.  Pick up all three books and spend a few days, hell even a week if needed, immersed in Caleb, Olivia and the rest of the characters that will have you wanting to smack them, scream and yell and most likely throwing whatever reading device that you are using.  It is all worth it in the end.
