New York Times bestselling author Kelsie Leverich continues her series in her new Hard Feelings novella, where a tempting little lie turns into so much more…
Eva Riley is the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding and it just so happens that her ex is the best man. Eva’s a straight shooter and definitely not the damsel-in-distress type. But with her pride on the line and her ex’s heart on his sleeve, there might not be enough champagne in the world to get her through this weekend…
Trevor Owens may be one hell of a good friend to Eva, but he’s always wanted to get the fiery redhead between the sheets. So he swoops in and offers a solution to her ex problem: they can pretend to be together—just for the weekend. But when their little game of make-believe is over, will they be able to tell what’s real and what’s only pretend?
Ena’s 4 Star Review
Pretending She’s His is a fun, cute, flirty novella that Kelsie gave us to get more of Eva’s story. It’s a short read that will give us insight to Eva’s life. It’s a great afternoon read that gave me flirty feelings and steamy sensations. Oh the steam and sexiness this book gave me left my legs a bit wobbly.
Eva is a very independent character that doesn’t do love or relationships. She has never met that one man who she is willing to settle down with. Love is a scary thing for her and she feels like she will never find it. Attending a weekend wedding Eva finds herself face to face with an old fling that ended on a sour note. Eva knows that the feelings Luke had for her ran deep but as always in Eva fashion she shuts down when things start to get serious with him, leaving him having no choice but to protect his own heart and walking away from her. Now they are thrown back together after 8 months of silence and the tension is thick.
Trevor who is more like an annoying brother to Eva is attending the weekend wedding and can tell something is up with the tension running between Eva and Luke and comes up with an idea that might have Luke backing off so Eva can breathe easier during the weekend. The idea of Eva pretending to be with Trevor seems crazy but when she finds herself in a sticky situation claiming that she in fact with Trevor rolls off her tongue with ease.
Pretending to be Trevor’s seems easy enough right? Well, what happens when the person you thought you knew is not the person who you are getting to know now? What if pretending isn’t what you are truly wanting? Sometimes pretending can lead to something that is real. Something that either party knew they wanted until they started playing make believe. Can Trevor and Eva fake their way as a couple through the weekend and go back to be just friends, or will the weekend prove that sometimes what you want and need has been in front of you for a long time?
This is going to be a short and sweet review of Pretending She’s His. I love Eva; she has this attitude about her that I was drawn too. On the outside she is independent, snarky, strong, and badass. However, on the inside when you break down all her walls she is scared falling for someone, scared of letting someone else in her heart because she is afraid to get hurt. Trevor has this Casanova man whore thing going great for him because deep down he is a very passionate and caring guy. I think maybe he just needed to find the right woman to bring those qualities out in him.
After Eva claims to belong to Trevor this is when the story gets fun and flirty. You can tell in the beginning that Trevor is into this way more than Eva, hello he is a man. I was picking up on little things along the way too. There were moments that left me scratching my head as to why this happened or why this didn’t happen. The sexually chemistry was there and it was running hot between those two. I could tell that feelings were starting to run a little deeper than what they thought it could. Trevor is a playboy because there was something about him that made me fall in love with him. He is hot! Yes he knows his way around a woman’s body but that just means he knows what the hell he is doing. I could sense that he started not to pretend anymore – he wanted Eva and he wanted her for real.
Weekends go by quick – don’t they? Well their weekend of pretending worked the way it was supposed to work. Luke backed off and didn’t get on his hands and knees begging Eva to give them another go. The weekend left more questions running through Trevor and Eva than before. They were just friends who were pretending, right?
“…But I knew when you pressed your lips to mine, that I wasn’t kissing you for anybody other than you. I wanted you to feel me, I wanted you to lose yourself against me. I was kissing you because I wanted you. Because it was real.”
After returning to the real world – Eva goes her way, and Trevor goes his. One phone call and a few plane tickets later can change all that. Trevor needs Eva more than ever and it looks like their weekend of pretending has been extended a little longer. Wanting to put Trevor as ease during his difficult time she goes a long with it. Are they still pretending? Or was the whole weekend wedding a shame that just brought their true feelings to the surface? Will Eva run again when things start getting serious? Will Trevor always be the playboy, the Casanova, or will he stop pretending to be something he isn’t and be the man that Eva needs?
Great novella Kelsie. I am so happy that you gave us more Eva and it involved Trevor! Although I wish this book was a bit longer because the steam and chemistry between Trevor and Eva had my panties catch on fire I think you did an excellent job telling their story. I cannot wait to find out what is next from you. I have read everything you have put out and I have never once been disappointed. If you haven’t read Feel the Rush yet please I urge you to read that first (amazing story) but then yes you don’t want to miss Eva and Trevor because hello TREVOR IS HOT!!!!
