Emmalynne Morgan thought that getting married to her High School sweetheart and starting a family was all she wanted in life. Everything was perfect until circumstances change and devastating blows occur.

Fast forward five years, Emmalynne thinks she is broken, not only emotionally but physically as well, so her confidence was severely lacking. Being a single mother to her son, Tucker, as well as an owner of a small town Bookstore, she does everything she can to keep men at arms-length, not thinking she is worthy anymore with her plus-sized body and scars.

Taking it upon themselves, Emmalynne’s best friends, Toby and Tessa make it their mission to bring her out of her tight-knitted comfort zone. That is when she locks eyes on the male perfection that is Grady.

Grady Finnegan was the gorgeous new guy in town. Recently injured and discharged from the Army, Grady comes to his Uncle’s aid in helping manage the family bar. Not being anywhere near innocent when it comes to women, Grady meets Emmalynne and he knows one thing, that he wants her.

Sparks fly and passion ignites, but will that be enough? Not ready to lay her heart on the line, Emmalynne guards it as best she can and ultimately fails. When chaos erupts and Grady’s past comes back to haunt him, it leaves Emmalynne’s already broken heart, shattered.

Will past circumstances prevent Emmalynne from having the future she deserves? Or can Grady help her follow her heart and show her that she is Not Alone

4 1/2 Star Review

I love reading and discovering new authors, especially when the story is AWESOME!  Amber Nation wrote this story beautifully, and I can’t wait for more from her in the future!  Not Alone brings out so many emotions because although there is a HEA, it is a bumpy ride getting there.  Every time I thought things might work out one way, something else happened and I wanted to scream for them!  She will also have you laughing at the hilarious banter between friends and hoping you will have a son who loves you that much someday!  Amazing Debut!

In Not Alone you will meet Emmalynne Morgan!  Emmy thought that her life was going to be perfect.  She married her High School sweetheart and started a family.  She had everything she always wanted, but things began to change.  Her husband became emotionally abusive and tried to control everything Emmy did.  She thought she was doing the right thing by staying with him like she vowed.  But just as she figured out she had to leave…a tragic accident occurred.
Now it’s five years later and Emmy is still broken on the outside and the inside.  She is lacking in confidence from years of emotional abuse and hates the scars that are left from the accident.  Emmy is now a single mother to her son, Tucker.  He is an amazing little boy and so proud and protective of his mother!  I adored their relationship…especially the “Lego” incidents because I can completely relate!  Taking care of Tucker and owning a bookstore doesn’t leave her much time for a social life.  But with a little push from her best friends, Tessa and Toby, she decides to take a chance on the new gorgeous man in town!
“Sometimes when you met someone you just knew that they were the one.  I would bet all the riches in the world that she was my one.”
Grady Finnegan moved to town to help his Uncle run the family bar.  He was recently injured and has been discharged from the Army, and he is one SEXY SOLDIER!   Grady is no where near innocent and has NEVER wanted to settle down with any woman.  But the moment he locked eyes with Emmy, he knew he had to have her! The sexual chemistry between them is explosive!  I loved how sweet he was with her!  Grady tried to help her see how beautiful she was both inside and out!  I especially love that he could cook…yummy!!!  He was always respectful of her and that made me love him even more!
“If you keep letting out those agonizingly sexy groans every time you take a bite, I’m going to rush you back to your house and fuck you senseless.  And I know you aren’t ready for that…yet…”
I don’t want to give too much away, because some things that happened… I definitely didn’t see coming!  OMG how can so many bad things happen to one person? Will their passion be enough?  Can Emmy let her guard down and learn to love again?  What will happen when Grady’s past comes back to haunt him and it leaves Emmy’s heart shattered?  Can Emmy ever have the future she deserves?  Will Grady be able to show her she is not alone anymore?
There were times I was dying laughing, scared, crying, heart broken, smiling, and just completely and blissfully in love!  I loved all the extra characters and felt that each and every one played a huge part in the book!  Especially Tucker’s relationship with his Mom and Grady!  Amazingly written!  Beautiful story!  And I LOVED THE EPILOGUE! Don’t pass this book up!  I will definitely be watching for more from Amber Nation!!!

After a great start this book fell flat. I have to say I had high hopes for it, the beginning of the book really captured the audience but unfortunately after the first chapter the attention to detail seemed to wain. The story was sweet, the main characters seem relate-able, but unrealistic. For a single mom in her late 20’s she acted more like she was in high school and the ex- special forces hero of the book was really kinda wimpy. It wasn’t just the main characters that fell flat of their potential, most of the secondary characters did as well. All them were ALMOST there, but needed just a little more substance to be real. To me it felt like she rushed through a lot of the important scenes, when she should have taken her time and added some more detail. That being said was for a first book it was a good effort, and I didn’t want to jab my eye out with a red pencil with obvious grammatical errors and she was consistent in the writing style. It just felt like what should have been an adult story turned into the PG version of what could have been a gripping, raunchy, dirty, sexy, story of overcoming the odds.
