What do you do when the one you’ve always wanted becomes too Hard to Love?

Hailey Taylor’s heart is broken. She was sure that if anyone could tame bad boy Mason, she could. They were supposed to be together forever. It was finally their turn.

Mason Cahill’s baseball career is taking him to new places. Places he’s always wanted to go. Things on the field come easily. Why can’t the rest of life be simple? All actions have consequences but will the price be too high?

What would you do if you had one last chance to turn it all around? Sparks fly. Tempers flare. Hearts shatter. One thing is certain… everything has changed.

Who will be too Hard to Love?

Shasta’s 5 Star Review

So I was really excited when I finally received the ARC for Hard To Love You by Megan Smith. I absolutely fell in love with the first two books in this series and after the cliffhanger that Smith left us with from Easy To Love You with Mason and Hailey, I thought I would have a fit until Hard To Love You came out. I mean seriously, the only thing going through my mind at that time was how could you leave us hanging like that. Damn, I had to know what would happen to Mason and Hailey. But I have to admit, Megan made me cry. To think that Mason and Hailey would be done, but knowing her that is what made this into a great story for me. In Hard To Love You, Megan Smith does not make anything easy for this couple. You find out so many things that are important to why Mason and Hailey are the couple they are.

Mason Cahill is a protector that is who he has always been, not just with his family but also with the love of his life Hailey. Mason will put everyone’s needs and wants before his own. But as we pick up from book 2, Mason tries everything to repair his relationship with Hailey after being caught in what looks like a very compromising position. Although Mason did not do anything wrong, he still breaks Hailey’s heart because he will not tell her what the big secret is that he is trying to work out. Mason and Hailey have said no more lies and no more secrets, but can they come back from the one thing that Mason will not tell her.

“I hear her gasp before I even see her. I know it’s her, I can feel Hailey.”

“Tell your band boy I’m coming after my girl.” — Mason

Hailey has always loved Mason Cahill. Even in the past when they were never together, she never stopped loving him. He has always been there for her, loving her. But sometimes love just isn’t enough. Hailey has been broken. She must find herself again and sometimes to do that you must let go the one person in life that said they would always protect and love you. Although Hailey’s heart is shattered by events that take place throughout the story, I feel that going through everything she has been through in the past and with everything she must go through now it only makes Hailey that much stronger of a woman.

“You promised that you would never lie to me, Mason. I trusted you. I trusted you with my heart and you know how God damn hard that is for me to do.”

“We’re either hot or cold, nothing in the middle. Our clothes are off or on. I laugh to myself; I should have known that was going to happen.” — Hailey

One of the best things that I think Megan Smith has done with Hard To Love You is she gives the backstory of Mason and Hailey throughout the story instead of hitting you with it all at once. You get to take the journey through their lives and see how Mason and Hailey came to be. My only wish is that I do not have to wait very long for the next installment because honestly Megan I may just pull my hair out and pout in a corner like a little baby that has just lost their favorite toy.
