What happens when you create rules to keep others out?

One thing Emerson Moore has come to terms with is that she is the school slut. She knows her way around a frat house and how to get what she wants. She doesn’t make any excuses for her actions and she doesn’t pretend to be anything different. She is who she is and with that she knows how to have a good time. She’s made rules to keep relationships at bay and avoid the demons of her past.

When her best friend, Cole has his two friends from back home move in with him she begins to think she has met her match with Jaxon Riley. Jax is the perfect mixture of tattooed muscle and a sweet-talking mouth. With “hand” written notes, a voice that exudes sex and knowing just how to get under her skin, Jaxon learns how to break all the rules. But will he just end up breaking her heart anyway?

 5 star Review

Emerson Moore has three rules that she follows: never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for, never sleep with someone who is in a relationship (when this isn’t disclosed to me, it is not my fault), and, finally, never sleep with someone more than three times.  She has come to terms with the fact that-she is the school slut.  She has no desire what so ever to have a relationship with any guy.  She just wants to enjoy life. She has become one of the most hated girls on campus.

Emerson is guarding her heart.  Her parents divorced when she was 15 and then she lost them both in a car accident.  She has carried around hurt and anger ever since.  She could only assume that her parents were having affair.  So she creates her rules to protect herself and those around her from the same type of hurt.

When the walk of shame has her meeting Jaxon Riley.  She never expects to see the sexy, tattooed, motorcycle riding, football playing, bad boy again.  What Emerson doesn’t realize is that Jax and his twin brother Jace have moved in next door to her, with her best friend Cole.  Em has met her match in Jax. He sees Emerson as a challenge and he sets out to break her and her rules.  Slowly working his way under her skin.

Em and Jax begin to build a friendship, they have classes together and decide to help one another study. You can just feel the sexual energy that comes off the two of them.  Cole has asked Em to stay away from Jax.  He doesn’t want any of their friendships ruined if Em decides to bed Jax.  Along with Jace and Quinn, Em’s roommate, sister and best friend, they have a tight knit little family.  They watch out and take care of one another.

For Emerson, being Jax friend is not enough for her.  Once she has the chance to sleep with him, she explains her rules.  Jaxon become determined to break everyone of them.  He thinks he is the one to make her change her ways.  He is so sweet, thoughtful, sexy, energetic and the sex between them is scorching hot!

I don’t care what your reputation is; most of us don’t have good ones anyways. That’s what makes them reputations ~ Jax

When Jax wants to try and have a relationship with Em, she runs.  She never expects to feel sadness and hurt over the loss of him.  She tries to get back into her old ways and she just cannot do it.

“Damn it, Emerson, just stop!” he yelled, “Stop pretending you don’t care. Why won’t you let me in? Why won’t you let me care about you? Because for some maddening reason, I do!”

I loved, loved, loved this book!  The characters were believable, funny, smart, hot, crazy and oh so sexy.  What a breath of fresh air!  I recommend this book to anyone wanting a panty dripping, hot, sexy, emotional roller coaster ride read.  Very well written, debut novel for Kimberly Lauren.   5 star read!
