Bad Things by R.K. Lilley

Danika hasn’t had an easy life. Being insanely attracted to bad boys has never helped make it easier.

One look at Tristan, and every brain cell she possessed went up in smoke. This man was trouble with a capital T. It was a given.

She knew better. Bad boys were bad. Especially for her. Considering her history, it was crazy to think otherwise. So why did crazy have to feel so damn fine?

For as long as she could remember, Danika had been focused on the future with single-minded purpose. Tristan came along and taught her everything there was to know about letting go, and living in the present. She fell, hard and deep. Of course, that only made her impact with the ground that much more devastating.

 ~~Laura’s 5 Star Thoughts~~

It is not very often that I want to give a book more than 5 stars….Bad Things is one of those that deserves so many more.  I have never read an R.K. Lilley book before and have to say I am now hooked!  In Bad Things we meet Tristan and Danika.  She come from a very broken home.  She has found a new life with Bev and Jerrry and their two sons.  She is their nanny, housekeeper, dog walker and more. They have given her the chance to better her life.  Not only does she take care of all of them, she is also a student at the local college. Danika has sworn off all men.  She only does relationships and she is not ready for one anytime soon.
Enter Tristan.  He is the typical tattooed, womanizing, Alpha bad boy. He is a club promoter and the lead singer in an up and coming rock band.  He has come to stay at Bev and Jerry’s until his apartment is ready.  Tristan also comes form a broken home. And comes to realize that he and Danika have a lot in common.  As they begin to spend more and more time together, Tristan teaches Danika how to live and let go.  They become best friends.  Tristan becomes her protector.  The sexual tension between these two is crazy. From the moment they set eyes on one another you can feel the tension.  In order to save any anguish and hard feelings between the two of them Tristan devises a list to keep their friendship safe. What Tristan doesn’t expect is to be pushed to his limit with all Danika’s antics.
“I want you so badly that I’d do just about anything to have you,” he said roughly. “The only thing I won’t do though, is risk losing you. Can you promise me that if we do this, I won’t lose you?
They have truly met their match in one another.  Danika can rip off sarcastic remarks at the drop of a hat.  And she can keep up with everything that Tristan throws at her.  I was laughing so hard I cried at some points in the story.
“I like my vibrator just fine.  Better than any cock that’s ever come near me, in fact.”
He closed his eyes, lowered his head and held up one finger as though he needed a moment
“I’ll try not to be to loud when I cry out your name as I get myself off.”
He shook his head, looking pained.  “So jacked up,” he muttered under his breath.
“I named my vibrator after you,” I told him with a smirk.  “He is small, but he makes up for it by working hard.”
He straightened, moving a little close to show me just how small he wasn’t.  I backed up to the edge of the table, and he followed.
He gave me a sinful smile. “I’m big like this everywhere. Don’t make me prove it to you.”
They turn everything into a game.  Trying to out do one another.
One thing leads to another and Tristan and Danika find themselves in a heated friend with benefits relationship.  Testing one another’s feelings for the other.  Tristan is quite possibly the most gorgeous man that Danika has set her eyes on.  And Tristan can’t take his eyes off of her.  Through a roller coaster ride of emotions, R.K. Lilley tells this amazing story of two people from broken homes who meet and become best friends and then lovers.  This book is filled with plenty of hot sex and humor, love and loss.  I really can’t say enough about this book.  I think I need to read it again.  Hell, I fell in love with Tristan, he is now officially in my top 10 of BBF!
